Samoa’s approach this year differs from previous years as they have organized a range of unique events and entertainment to mark the conclusion of the 60th year anniversary of Independence.
The festivities commenced with a Fautasi Race last week, followed by traditional Samoan performances such as “siva, pese & faleaitu” by various groups. Today, schools around Lepea gathered for a march, accompanied by the police band and members of parliament. The march and gathering took place at Lepea, a significant location associated with the Mau movement.
A free “thanksgiving concert” is planned for May 31st at the Malae o Tiafau, featuring renowned artists like Moses Mackay, Marina Davis, Zipso, Robyn Akari, and numerous other talented Samoans who will perform and contribute to this long 60 years of Independence celebration.
