Over 20 countries, including New Zealand and Australia, have agreed to support the Samoan police in ensuring security for the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). Acting Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti confirmed the collaboration and mentioned ongoing preparations for written requests to the supportive nations.

The initial goal is to seek assistance from New Zealand, Australia, and other Pacific countries. While the specific number of personnel hasn’t been confirmed, discussions with donor partners are underway to minimise potential costs for Samoa. The next CHOGM is scheduled for October 2024 in Apia, Samoa, with a focus on addressing global challenges and fostering collaboration within the Commonwealth.
