Singapore, February 19, 2024 – Samoa and Singapore have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Air Service Agreement aimed at enhancing air connectivity between the two nations. The agreements were signed by Samoa’s Minister of Works, Transport, and Infrastructure, Honorable Olo Fiti Afoa Vaai, and Singapore’s Minister of Transport, Honourable Chee Hong Tat.
The primary objective of the agreements is to facilitate direct flights between Samoa and Singapore, providing travelers and businesses with improved accessibility and convenience. This initiative is expected to stimulate tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The signing ceremony took place following the opening ceremony of the 3rd Singapore Pacific Islands Transport Ministers’ Forum in Singapore. Accompanying Hon. Olo were key officials from Samoa, including Chief Executive Officers and Chairpersons.
The agreements signify a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship between Samoa and Singapore, demonstrating their shared commitment to fostering closer ties and mutual growth. The signing ceremony coincides with ongoing events in Singapore, including the Singapore Pacific Islands Transport Ministers’ Forum and the Changi Aviation Summit.
