On 9th May 2024, Justice Vui Clarence Nelson officiated the swearing-in of SVSG’s new Ambassador for Children’s Rights at the Court House in Mulinuu, from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Toleafoa Lotumali’i Rev’d Fr. Leatuao Larry Tupa’i-Lavea has been appointed to this role by the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG).
Toleafoa, 52, is a Reverend, Archdeacon of The Episcopal Unit of the Diocese of Polynesia in Aotearoa, New Zealand, Anglican Church. He is als a seasoned businessman, married to Helen Samuel, with whom he has four children. He is also a member of various boards in New Zealand.
Hailing from the villages of Nuusuatia in Upolu and Safotu in Savai’i, he currently resides in Mangere, New Zealand.
The swearing in ceremony was followed by the SVSG Board acceptance of Toleafoa’s expression of interest, which was supported by his impressive credentials and a thorough due diligence process.
Toleafoa is acknowledged by his community as a compassionate yet bold leader, unafraid to address critical issues directly impacting people.
As the SVSG’s Children’s Rights Ambassador, Toleafoa is committed to using his leadership skills and community connections to advocate for the rights and welfare of children in Samoa, especially those who have suffered abuse.
