Young told Samoa Observer after the event in Samoa, “It’s good to be back. Only this time I’m racing as a triathlete and as a running coach with a great group of young athletes. I’m looking forward to the day when one of them catches me out there.”

He also noted the growing participation in long-distance running in Samoa, particularly among women. “I’ve been involved in long-distance running in Samoa for more than thirty years, and I’ve never seen this many local women runners in the 5000m,” said Young.

Young’s journey is not only a personal triumph but also a beacon of inspiration for aspiring athletes in Samoa and beyond. His story encourages perseverance, continuous improvement, and the pursuit of excellence, regardless of age.
