In Indonesia, a woman who went missing has been found dead inside a nearly five-meter-long python.

According to AFP, Farida, aged 45, was reported missing when she did not return home in South Sulawesi. Her husband and the residents of Kalempang village began searching for her on Friday.

The village chief, Suardi Rosi, explained that the woman’s husband found her belongings, which made him suspicious. During their search, the villagers discovered a reticulated python with a noticeably large belly.

Fearing the worst, the villagers decided to cut open the snake. As they did, the woman’s head became visible.

A video of the incident showed the snake being cut open and the woman inside. She was then removed from the snake, wrapped up, and taken away for burial.

The grieving husband expressed deep regret, saying, “I am forever sorry that I let my wife go out alone. If I had been with her that day, the snake would not have dared to touch her. I feel sorry for the suffering she went through. I am sorry for our family.”

Reticulated pythons, native to Southeast Asia, are the world’s longest snakes.
