Presentation of credentials of the High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Independent State of Samoa

Her Excellency, Mrs. Mazita Marzuki, presented her Letter of Credence to the Head of State of Samoa, Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II, at a credential ceremony held this morning at the official residence of the Head of State. This ceremony accredits Her Excellency as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Samoa, with residence in Wellington, New Zealand.

Samoa and Malaysia established diplomatic relations in 1982 and have maintained cordial relations guided by shared values of trust and mutual respect. During their remarks at the ceremony, the Head of State and the High Commissioner of Malaysia noted that both countries have consistently worked together on bilateral, regional, and multilateral platforms to achieve common goals such as reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity for their peoples.

The Head of State expressed confidence in Mrs. Mazita Marzuki’s appointment, affirming that it will further strengthen existing relations and create new opportunities for mutual benefit.

Mrs. Mazita Marzuki holds a Master of Human Resources Management Development from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. Her career includes roles as Assistant Producer/Line Manager at TV3 Broadcasting Station (1997-2000), Special Officer at the Penang State Government Office (2001-2005), and Deputy Director of the Human Resource Division at the Ministry of Health (2005-2006). She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009 as the Principal Assistant Secretary to the OIC and Regional Cooperation Division and later served as Deputy Director General of the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism. Mrs. Marzuki has held diplomatic positions as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and as Head of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Melbourne, Australia, before her current appointment as High Commissioner of Malaysia to New Zealand.
