King Charles and Queen Camilla’s plans for their upcoming trip to Samoa have been revealed. The trip is centered around the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will be the King’s first as Head of the Commonwealth. All 56 member countries are expected to attend.

In Samoa, the King and Queen will be welcomed with a traditional ‘Ava Fa’atupu ceremony, and they will participate in events celebrating Samoan culture. Charles will attend the CHOGM opening ceremony, the Business Forum, and host a dinner for Commonwealth leaders. He will also visit a mangrove forest, a national park, and plant a tree at Samoa’s Botanical Garden, creating a new area called ‘The King’s Garden.’

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla will visit a school to observe how children are taught and meet with the Samoa Victim Support Group, learning about their work with survivors of domestic violence. She will also participate in a forum focused on advocating for women and girls in the Commonwealth.

Their trip, from October 18 to 26, will also take them to Australia, where they will learn about indigenous plants and the impact of climate change on biodiversity. The King, who has been undergoing cancer treatment, will meet Australians of the Year to discuss their work supporting people affected by melanoma.
