The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) in Samoa has signed a contract with Archimedes Engineering Pty Ltd, an Australian company, to supply a new Mobile Slaughtering Unit (MSU) valued at SAT 1.5 million.
The project is funded by the Samoa Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity and Marketing (SAFPROM) Project, co-financed by the World Bank and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

The upgraded MSU aims to improve meat quality, safety, and hygiene standards, providing Samoan consumers with safer meat products. The new unit will also enhance accessibility for farmers, particularly in remote areas, by offering a more efficient meat processing option.
This is the second MSU for Samoa, building on the first unit’s success under the Samoa Agriculture Competitiveness Enhancement Project (SACEP).
Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Honourable Niuava Eti Malolo, said, “The modernised slaughtering process is crucial in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while supporting sustainable agricultural practices.”
The government thanked the World Bank and IFAD for their support through the SAFPROM Project, which continues to drive growth in Samoa’s agriculture and fisheries sectors.
