Lotoaomalua Afatia has dedicated her graduation achievement to her family, saying their support carried her through every challenge. The daughter of Rev. Afatia Afualo Niue and Faletua Talalelei Malatoese was named Overall Top in Accounting at the National University of Samoa’s graduation last week.

She was one of over 400 graduates who received their qualifications, and her three-year journey ended on a high note as she was awarded a Bachelor of Commerce.

“It was a challenging path and a tough battle,” she told Samoa News Hub. “However, my parents’ prayers and the massive support from my community made it all possible.

Lotoaomalua is from the villages of Fogatuli, Tafua Tai, and Fagae’e in Savai’i. She graduated from Maluafou College in 2020 and now works at the Ministry of Finance.

“My parents spent a lot on my education. My priority right now is to give back to them,” she said.

She added that the challenges she faced during her studies played a key role in helping her reach this point.

“I appreciate the struggles I went through because they’ve helped me become who I am today.”
