The Independent State of Samoa has confirmed its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, under the pavilion theme “Empowering Lives”. Hosted in the Commons A Pavilion, Samoa’s exhibit will present the nation’s rich culture, economic potential, and sustainable development efforts to a global audience.
The national theme for Samoa’s participation—“Fostering Inclusive Prosperity through enhanced access to opportunity for the people of Samoa”—aligns with the country’s long-term vision of promoting opportunities for all, especially women and youth. It reflects Samoa’s commitment to spiritual, cultural, and leadership development, while also championing social harmony, inclusion, gender equality, and support for vulnerable communities.
The Samoa Exhibit will consist of three main components:
- Samoan Culture, People and Way of Life
- Investment and Business Opportunities
- Sustainable Tourism Promotion
These themes tie in with the overarching Expo concept “Designing Future Society for our Lives”, which calls for resilience, innovation, and sustainable solutions. Samoa will also use the platform to draw attention to land and marine conservation—critical issues for small island developing states concerned with food security and long-term economic growth.

Visitors to the Samoa Exhibit can expect:
- A curated collection of cultural artefacts and locally made products, including beverages, handicrafts, textiles, organic personal care items, and merchandise from Samoan businesses.
- Visual displays such as banners, images, and videos that highlight the vibrancy of Samoan life, craftsmanship, and the country’s development pathway.
- Interactive experiences with Samoa’s exhibit staff, offering insights into investment, trade, and tourism initiatives.
Samoa’s National Day at the Expo is scheduled for 8 June 2025, with formal celebrations from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the National Day Hall (Ray Garden). The programme will include traditional siva performances by the Samoa Tourism Authority’s Dance Group. Further cultural and promotional events will follow:
- 8 June 2025, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Ray Garden
- 9–10 June 2025, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the Inner East Pop-up Stages
Expo Site Location – Yumeshima, Osaka

The Samoa Pavilion will be located in the Empowering Lives Zone, Commons-A, Booth P03. Directions and maps can be accessed at the Expo 2025 website.
Samoa, home to just over 220,000 people, comprises nine islands across 2,842 square kilometres in the South Pacific, with Apia as its capital. Often referred to as the Cradle of Polynesia, Samoa is rooted in the Fa’a Samoa way of life. Its economy is based on agriculture, fisheries, remittances, and tourism, with major exports including coconuts, taro, and fresh seafood.
As the first Pacific Island nation to gain independence in 1962, and the first to elect a female Prime Minister—Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataʻafa in 2021—Samoa remains committed to sustainable development and community empowerment.
