29 September – 1 October 2025, Millenia Hotel, Sogi, Apia – The Samoa Umbrella for Non-Governmental Organisations (SUNGO) has opened its three-day Monitoring and Evaluation Workshop, taking place from Monday, 29 September to Wednesday, 1 October 2025 at the Millenia Hotel Conference Room. Sessions run daily from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

This is the first of two Monitoring and Evaluation Trainings under the IOE Samoa Project, designed to strengthen the capacity of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) across Samoa. The courses aim to equip CSOs with the tools to better manage their operations and to oversee projects with stronger accountability in financial management and activity monitoring.

The workshop was officially opened by SUNGO’s National President, Afioga Lavea Peseta Lua Nafo’i, with a word of encouragement delivered by Reverend Tiafaaofo Gatoloai of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, Tulaele. Their participation reflects the partnership between civil society and faith-based leadership in advancing sustainable development.

More than thirty participants from SUNGO’s network of over 200 member organisations are attending. On completion of the training, participants will receive certificates acknowledging their contribution to strengthening Samoa’s civil society sector.

The IOE Samoa Project is funded by the European Union through International IDEA, in partnership with SUNGO and Women in Business Development Inc (WIBDI). This initiative continues SUNGO’s commitment to advancing effectiveness, transparency, and impact for CSOs throughout Samoa.
