Unit Trust of Samoa Holds 15th AGM at Mulinu’u

The Unit Trust of Samoa held its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Unitholders at the EFKS Tupulaga Hall – Mulinuu on Friday, 30th of January 2026. The meeting was well attended by unitholders attending in person and via the online platform provided.

The Customer Relations Manager and Master of Ceremony, Mrs. Leilani Smith welcomed all Unitholders who were present, Honourable Minister of Finance, Trustees, and the Board of Directors.

The meeting was opened with a short prayer ceremony, led by Rev. Palemia Tauilili Reupena and followed by the Trustee’s remarks. The Trustees, as represented by Taito John Roache of the Tafaiagi Trustee Company addressed the meeting attendees and announced key governance changes for the Board of Directors, where Afioega Seulupe Michelle Macdonald has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Board, and Atoa Louis Tafunai was also welcomed as the newest member of the Board of Directors.

The Trustee in its capacity to safeguard the interest of the unitholders, declared that in accordance with their oversight, the Management Company have acted diligently in the Unitholder’s favour, and commended them for their candid operations.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Honourable Minister Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo who commended the country’s resilience during political uncertainty and noted that cost of living continues to remain high.

The Honourable Minister re-emphasized that the government is steadfast and committed to sustainable development, nurturing social harmony and security through strategic investment which involves the Unit Trust of Samoa (UTOS) as a bridge connecting public investment with private wealth of families and the communities. Guided by the Pathway for the Development of Samoa and supported by the National Industry Development Policy and Strategy, the government is diligently working to building a more diversified and competitive economy and acknowledges the continuous investment efforts of our diaspora unitholders through remittances.

As a testament of commitment to inclusive service, the Honourable Minister was furthermore excited to launch UTOS first Braille printed Annual Report, which is in line with the government’s guiding principal that no one is left behind.

The Honourable Minister concluded her remarks by thanking the Unitholders of UTOS for their confidence and trust placed in the government and congratulated the Board of Directors, the Trustee, Chief Executive Officer and staff for their continuous efforts and hard work in service of our nation.

At the completion of the formalities, the AGM proceedings took place as a closed session attended only by registered unitholders. The main item for discussion was the Annual Report for Financial Year 2025, which was approved and adopted following deliberations.

UTOS (Trust) is a private trust owned by the Unitholders with its assets entrusted to a Trustee Company which holds in trust the funds of the unit holders. These funds are invested into a diversified portfolio of assets ranging from term deposits, government securities and shares in privately owned companies. Its social objective is inclusivity; providing accessible and affordable investment for ordinary Samoans. Its commercial objective is to generate sustainable returns for the unit holders from a risk assessed and balanced investment portfolio.
