The Ministry of Finance has announced a drop in fuel prices effective 1 May 2025. Petrol, diesel, and kerosene will all see lower prices at the pump this month.
Petrol drops by 7.2 sene per litre to $3.02, diesel by 5.7 sene to $3.11, and kerosene sees the largest decrease of 9.4 sene, now priced at $2.71 per litre.
Prices are based on the March 2025 Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) marker. A dip in international oil prices earlier in March, driven by new U.S. tariff policies, is cited as the reason. However, ongoing volatility in the global oil market is expected.
In comparison with neighbouring countries, Samoa’s petrol remains competitive:
Country | ULP (Petrol) Price | ADO (Diesel) Price | Exchange Rate (Est.) |
---|---|---|---|
Samoa | SAT $3.02 | SAT $3.11 | – |
Australia | SAT $2.99 | SAT $3.19 | 1 AUD ≈ 1.73 SAT |
New Zealand | SAT $3.17 | SAT $3.19 | 1 NZD ≈ 1.62 SAT |
Fiji | SAT $3.29 | SAT $3.32 | 1 FJD ≈ 1.19 SAT |
The new prices are inclusive of VAGST and will apply until 31 May 2025.
