Vote for the Independents – Kukoʻakasi

Samoa’s two major political parties – HRPP and FAST – no longer represent the only path forward. HRPP held power for decades, and FAST came into office in the most recent election. But for many voters, disappointment now stretches across both names. The promises have changed, but the system hasn’t.

But something is happening. A new tide is forming.

The people are turning their eyes toward the Kukoʻakasi –the independents.

These candidates are not bound by party loyalty. They are not caught in the internal rivalries or driven by old vendettas. They are ordinary Samoans with one commitment: to be the voice of the people inside Parliament. When party politics fail to deliver, it is the independent voice that keeps government honest.

A healthy democracy needs balance. It needs resistance. When Parliament is filled with one party’s members, it becomes an echo chamber. The Prime Minister’s word becomes final – not by merit, but by majority. That is not leadership. That is domination.

Independent candidates offer Samoa a safety net.

They are the ones who will say no when everyone else says yes. They will ask the uncomfortable questions. They will challenge rushed legislation. They will remember that their allegiance is to the people — not to a party leader.

This election is not just about red or blue. It is about whether we still believe in our right to choose the kind of leadership we deserve.

Political parties have flooded the nation with promises of cash, assistance, and development. But make no mistake – these are not gifts. These are trades. Your vote, for a one-time payment. And after the election? Silence. You are forgotten, until next time.

We are treated as poor, desperate, and easy to buy.
We are taxed, but not heard.
We are fed slogans, but not served.

That’s why I’m urging you – not to throw your vote away,
but to aim it with purpose.

Vote for the Kukoʻakasi. Vote for those who love this country without needing to wear its colours.

Vote for balance. For honesty. For Samoa.

Because when Parliament pushes you aside –
An independent can stand up and say, Not this time.
