A total of 67 police and 28 corrections trainees have officially graduated today.
The group of 95 in total are all ready to take on their new roles and serve Samoa as new Police and Corrections officers following a ceremony this morning officially sealing their success.
The group completed the Basic Recruit Course and are the first to graduate from the Police Academy at Tafaigata since its official opening last year.
Minister of Police, Prisons and Corrections Services Faualo Harry Jeffrey Schuster spoke on behalf of the Government of Samoa as keynote speaker.
He congratulated the new recruits and reminded them that the uniform they wear symbolises: duty, justice, and the protection of all citizens and carries the weight of public trust.
And regardless of whether they serve in law enforcement, on the field or in the correctional institutions, their role is vital to Samoa’s national security and social stability.

“You are peacekeepers and protectors. But you are also leaders, especially in moments of conflict, uncertainty, or public scrutiny.”
The Minister reminded them that authority is not power over others, it is responsibility toward their nation, the people and the communities they serve.
“The people of Samoa expect and deserve officers who act with integrity, fairness, and humanity. Your work must reflect the values enshrined in our constitution: justice, equality, and respect for the rule of law.”
Addressing the Corrections Officers, he told them they are at the forefront of rehabilitation.
This means their role is one that balances firmness with humanity.
“Your work has the power to change lives, to give offenders a second chance, to bring structure to chaos, and to uphold the dignity of every individual in custody.”
His next encouragement was to the new Police Officers, as first responders, guardians in times of crisis, and often, the first line between safety and danger they are ‘peacekeepers in a world that too often forgets peace’.
“Your courage will be tested, but your training and your heart, will see you through.”
Faualo acknowledged the Samoa Police Management and the families of the graduates for their support and standing by the graduates every step of the way.
