Samoa Conservation Society has thanked members and supporters who joined its Malololelei Endangered Species Eco-Walk for International Endangered Species Day 2026.
The event was held at the Malololelei Community Conservation Area, where participants learned more about local conservation work and the need to protect Samoa’s native and endemic species.
In a public post, the Society said the eco-walk brought together members and friends of conservation to recognise the beauty and importance of Samoa’s natural environment.
The Society said many of Samoa’s native and endemic species are increasingly threatened, endangered, or at risk of extinction because of both human activity and natural pressures.
Participants were also able to learn more about conservation efforts being carried out within the Malololelei Community Conservation Area.

The event comes ahead of Environment Week, which will run from 18 to 22 May under the coordination of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Samoa.
Samoa Conservation Society said it hoped those who took part enjoyed the experience and left with a deeper appreciation of the importance of protecting Samoa’s biodiversity.

The organisation also encouraged the public to support and participate in Environment Week activities as communities, organisations, and government agencies continue efforts to protect Samoa’s environment and natural heritage.
Samoa Conservation Society thanked everyone who attended the eco-walk and said it looked forward to welcoming supporters again at its next Endangered Species Day event.
