Two French Senators are visiting Samoa this week as part of a mission to learn more about the country’s parliamentary system and strengthen exchanges with Pacific counterparts.

According to a press release from the Embassy of France in Samoa, Senators Christophe André Frassa and Guy Benarroche will be in Samoa from July 1 to 3, 2026.

The senators are arriving from the Cook Islands. Their visit begins on Wednesday with a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Auuapaau Mulipola Aloitafua Mulipola.

The programme will continue on Thursday and Friday with meetings involving Members of Parliament and Samoan authorities.

The visiting senators are also expected to meet with civil society organisations involved in nature conservation work in Samoa. These include the Samoa Conservation Society and the Samoa Voyaging Society.

Senator Christophe André Frassa has represented French citizens living abroad since 2008 as a member of Les Républicains. Senator Guy Benarroche has served since 2020 as a member of the Ecologists party, representing the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

Both senators are members of the France–Vanuatu–Pacific Island States Friendship Group, with Senator Frassa serving as its President.

The Embassy said the mission to Samoa forms part of the Friendship Group’s efforts to support exchanges of knowledge between French parliamentarians and their counterparts across the Pacific Islands.
