Toeaso and Anastasia of Vavau are proud parents who rose to their feet with tears of happiness during Lepa Lotofaga College’s Prize-giving today, as their two daughters reached a milestone.

It was a day of celebration as Lina Grace Toeaso was named the dux of the school’s year 12 level, with her younger sister, Sialataua Toeaso securing first place in year 11 level.

Lina, the second of the children, said this is the happiest day of her life.

“I’ve never imagined I would be able to accomplish this. This is the best day in my entire life.”

During an interview with Samoa Newshub, Sialataua credited their parents’ prayers.

“Our parents have been our backbone. Their prayers have resulted in this success, and I thank them for their full support. God is awesome.”

The older of the two sisters secured first place in year 12 English and Visual Arts, and her younger sibling topped year 11 Agriculture Science, Food & Textiles, and Samoan.

Their father, Toeaso, is a teacher at Aufaga Primary School and, according to him, encouraging his daughters into a learning mindset at an early age had helped them.

Lina Grace Toeaso aims to follow in her father’s footsteps in becoming a teacher, and Sialataua Toeaso, on the other hand, hopes to join the University of the South Pacific next year and secure a scholarship to further her studies in agriculture.

Both were featured at Lepa Lotofaga College’s 2023 Prize-giving ceremony this morning.

The girls admitted that there were challenges throughout the year, fortunately, God’s mercy pushed them to overcome these hurdles.

The mother of the top students, Anastasia Toeaso, mentioned she will always support her children’s education, and she believes that humility leads to blessings.
