I am delighted to be here this evening as we gather to mark and celebrate the silver jubilee, or twenty-five years of service, for the people of Samoa by the Samoa Ports Authority.
This is the finale of the week-long celebrations that started with a thanksgiving service, staff charity presentations, the Green Port Fair, and the official opening of the Mulifanua and Salelologa ports upgrade project.
I am also informed that the Authority has, to date, paid a total accumulated dividend to the Government of $25 million tala—another milestone achievement that is being celebrated tonight. Additionally, there will be awards to honor some of the long-serving employees as part of tonight’s program.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Samoa, I wish to take this opportunity to extend our most sincere thanks to the Hon. Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Afioga Olo Fiti Afoa Vaai, the Chairman and the Board, the Management and Staff of Samoa Ports Authority for their service to the Government and the people of Samoa over the last twenty-five years.
