The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has set dates for the Auckland New Zealand Temple open house from 27 February to 22 March 2025, excluding Sundays. Located on Redoubt Road in Manukau, this temple will serve as a spiritual center for the city’s Latter-day Saints, who number between 15,000 and 20,000 across 13 stakes.

Announced in 2018 and with construction starting in 2020, the temple is designed with a granite exterior and rooms for sacred ordinances. Serving congregations across Auckland and surrounding areas, it complements the Hamilton New Zealand Temple, the first in the country, dedicated in 1958.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints considers temples to be sacred spaces where members can engage in important religious ordinances and make eternal covenants with God. Unlike regular meetinghouses, temples are designed to foster a deeper connection with God, offering members opportunities for spiritual growth and eternal commitments. Temples also provide opportunities for members to perform ordinances on behalf of their ancestors, ensuring that everyone has the chance to receive the blessings of salvation.

Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside over the dedication on 13 April. The ceremony will include a 10:00 a.m. session and a 2:00 p.m. rebroadcast to all units in the Auckland Temple district.

This new temple aligns with the Church’s goal of expanding temple access globally, particularly in regions with a rapidly growing membership. The Auckland Temple will also ease travel demands for worshipers, who previously relied on the Hamilton Temple.

Nearby, the New Zealand Missionary Training Centre, the only one in Oceania, serves missionaries preparing for assignments throughout the South Pacific. This location establishes the Auckland Temple as a central site for the Church’s mission in the Pacific region.

The Auckland Temple strengthens the Church’s established presence in New Zealand, where Latter-day Saints are deeply integrated into local communities and culture.
