The National University of Samoa (NUS) has launched its latest quarterly newsletter, covering events and milestones from July to September 2024. This publication offers updates on key developments, including partnerships, campus events, and youth-focused initiatives that underscore NUS’s dedication to academic growth and community engagement.

In her opening message, Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa, NUS Vice-Chancellor & President, reflected on recent achievements. “This period has seen a remarkable series of events that not only highlight our commitment to academic excellence but also resonate with our dedication to community engagement,” she wrote. Among the highlights is a new partnership with the University of Auckland, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration aims to enhance academic exchange and tackle pressing issues like climate change and education.

The newsletter also covers the historic return of the Samoan war canoe and the unveiling of NUS’s new logo and ‘Lali’ symbol, celebrating Samoan cultural resilience. Additionally, the successful launch of the Ōfaga o Sa’ili’iliga Research Museum is featured, emphasizing the university’s role in preserving Samoan heritage.

Looking forward, NUS continues to create pathways for student empowerment through initiatives like the Samoa Youth Dialogue and the recent visit from UN Secretary-General António Guterres. These events provided students with a platform to voice their concerns and visions for a sustainable future.

The next issue promises more updates, including details on the King’s Scholarship, the PAS Launch, and the NUS CHOGM side events.
