Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo has raised serious concerns about the increasing incidents of home burglaries committed by youth in Samoa, who allegedly exchange stolen goods for drugs.
Recently, four youth from Vaimoso village were arrested for breaking and entering, but they have not provided any information regarding the stolen items. The stolen items include laptops, televisions, cell phones, iPads, and other electronics.
Commissioner Auapaau expressed concern about the rising crime rate and the trend of youth exchanging stolen goods for drugs, particularly methamphetamine.
The Police Commissioner suspects that drugs are being produced locally and urges the public to come forward with any information that may aid in their investigations.
He also calls on village councils, the general public, and community support to assist the Samoa Police in their ongoing fight against drugs.
