Dame Valerie Adams, the four-time World champion, has announced her separation from her husband Gabriel Price in a Facebook post made on the 10th of March 2023.
The couple got married on April 2, 2016, at Temple View in Hamilton, New Zealand. In a statement released by Adams, she stated:
“I have something to share and I want you to learn of this from me personally.
Gabriel and I have separated. While we are no longer together, we both remain entirely committed to our beautiful children.
As with any breakup, it can be emotional and difficult, so I do ask that you please respect the privacy of my family during this time.”
Adams and Price, both 37 years old and of Tongan heritage, have two children, a daughter born in 2017 and a son.
They have known each other since childhood as family friends through their parents and church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Adams was previously married to Bertrand Vili, a discus thrower from New Caledonia, in 2004, and they divorced in early 2010.
