Faga and Fa’ala Palauli, Savaii – Julius Pama Manila has graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific (USP) in Fiji.

The 22-year-old completed his degree last Friday after three years of study, which he described as challenging but rewarding. He dedicated the achievement to his parents, Ailepata and Faimalo Pama Manila.

“They’ve always been my inspiration growing up and they believe in having a proper education,” said Mr. Manila.

He shared that living away from home for three years was one of the biggest challenges of his academic journey.

“I felt like I was gone forever. There were times when I felt down, thinking of my parents and family every time. In Fiji, there were heaps of distractions, but I kept reminding myself why I left home, and I promised that I wouldn’t let my family down,” he said.

Mr. Manila credited his faith and family support for helping him stay focused.

“God has never left my side, and I know it was through my family’s prayers that I was able to stay focused. Now that I’ve completed this stage of my education, I feel humbled but proud at the same time,” he added.

Mr. Manila began his schooling at Luua Pre-school and attended Samoa College before enrolling at the National University of Samoa. He was awarded a scholarship to study at USP.

When asked for his message to other students, Mr. Manila said:-

“Stay close to God and believe in yourself. Humbling yourself helps you see the wonders of God’s blessings. With the support of your loved ones, you can do it.”
