PacificCode: Bridging the Digital Divide in Samoa through Innovative Education Initiative

BlueWave Wireless CEO Togisala Tony Sua Leota has launched PacificCode, an initiative that aims to provide coding education to children and educators in Samoa. The program is a joint effort between BlueWave Wireless, Code Avengers, Pacific Cooperation Foundation, ISIF Asia, Amazon Web Services, and Talamua Media.

The program kicked off with an opening ceremony at Palauli Primary School in Savai’i. Honorable Tofa Lagaaia Ti’atuau Tufuga, Associate Minister of Commerce, Industry and Labor, delivered remarks and joined Ray Allen, Executive Member of Code Avengers, for the ribbon cutting.

Over the next few days, teachers will receive professional development training from the Code Avengers, BlueWave Wireless, and E3 Samoa Trust teams. The program will continue with the children of Palauli Primary School after the teacher training.

The program expanded to Lotofaga in Apia, where a second opening ceremony was held. Prime Minister of Samoa, Honourable Fiame Naomi Mataafa, and Minister of Education, Sports, and Culture, Honourable Seuula Ioane Tuā, attended the event.

PacificCode aims to teach digital skills to children in Samoa, helping them navigate the digital world and contribute to their country’s economic and social development. Togisala Tony Sua Leota expressed his gratitude to the partners who believed in the vision and supported the program’s launch.

PacificCode is an innovative initiative aimed at providing access to digital education to the children and educators of Samoa, who can benefit greatly from the program. The program’s success will undoubtedly depend on the support and continued investment of its partners, who have shown their commitment to the project’s long-term success.
