Chinese medical team donates medical equipment to Samoa’s ministry of health

The Ministry of Health in Samoa has received a donation of medical equipment and devices from the Chinese Medical Team. The donation was accepted on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the MOH Pharmaceutical Warehouse in Moto’otua.

Representatives from the Samoan government, Atoa Dr. Glenn Fatupaito and Lupematasila Santoria Utufua-Leavai, accepted the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health. They also welcomed eight new members of the Chinese Medical Team who will be providing medical services in Samoa.

Lupematasila expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Health for China’s generous donation of medical supplies. She mentioned that the supplies will be very helpful for the medical team in providing care to the people of Samoa. She also expressed hope for continued friendship and collaboration between Samoa and China.

Dr. Li Qingchun, the team leader of the 8th China Medical Team from Jilin Province, expressed his happiness that this year marks the 60th anniversary of China’s medical aid team being dispatched to Samoa. He mentioned that his team will be the first to serve in Samoa for a whole year.

The donation includes various categories of drugs and instruments, such as those used for heart, gastrointestinal, rescue, orthopedic, abdominal, urology, and ear, nose, and throat surgeries. It also includes commonly used medical equipment like thermometers, blood pressure monitors, and surgical kits.
