At the age of 96, Sapa’u Lilomaiava Pitovao Lolesio Vitale has dedicated 34 years of his life to serving the Government, starting from the year 1953 until 1987, within the Ministry of Police.
Born on June 8, 1927, Sapa’u Lilomaiava hails from the village of Levī Saleimoa.
Throughout his distinguished service within the Government, he has been awarded the prestigious Officer of the Order of Samoa in recognition of his outstanding contributions.
This honor reflects the deep appreciation and high regard of Samoa’s society, acknowledging the life-long commitment of this Samoan gentleman.
On May 31, 2023, a special ceremony was held to commemorate Samoa’s 60 years of Independence and honour individuals who have made significant contributions to the country. Sapa’u was among the recipients of the prestigious title “Officer of the Order of Samoa.” During the ceremony, Sapa’u was bestowed with this honorable title by His Highness the Head of State of Samoa, Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II.
The Office of the Order of Samoa is a high honourable recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions and sacrifices for Samoa, whether through community service, philanthropy, or exceptional leadership in various fields within the country.
Sapa’u has also served as a Member of Parliament for the Sagaga le Falefa constituency from 1988 to 1991. He has actively participated in rugby, both as a player and as a representative of the Samoa Golden Oldies rugby team, as well as being a member of the Malisi Veterans Association.
