The Samoa Conservation Society (SCS), dedicated to the preservation of Samoa’s unique flora, recently received a significant boost from the Yazaki Kizuna Foundation. In a move to support the society’s conservation efforts, the foundation generously donated a double cab vehicle.

At a special ceremony held in the picturesque Vailima Botanical Gardens, the President of SCS expressed profound gratitude for the support provided by the Yazaki Kizuna Foundation. “This vehicle is a blessing for our society, dramatically enhancing the efficiency and ease of our field operations. We no longer need to rely on rentals or personal vehicles for our crucial conservation work. It represents a significant step forward for our organization, expanding our reach to project communities and streamlining the delivery of conservation awareness programs across Samoa,” he remarked.

Junichi Kitami, Managing Director of the Yazaki Kizuna Foundation, shared insights into the foundation’s mission. “’Kizuna’ symbolises the bonds and connections among people. Our aim is to fortify the ties between Japan and Samoa, foster connections among the Samoan people, and contribute to the nation’s development,” he explained.

The collaboration between the SCS and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) was also highlighted. The MNRE’s Assistant Chief Executive Officer emphasised the depth of their partnership. “Our alliance with the SCS transcends a mere collaboration; it is a deeply shared commitment to protecting Samoa’s rich natural heritage. By joining forces, we can accomplish far more in biodiversity conservation, ensuring the health and prosperity of our environment and communities,” he stated.

Yazaki representatives, as part of the event, visited various SCS project sites and expressed their admiration for the ongoing conservation efforts.
