In a significant move against illegal narcotics in Samoa, the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) successfully conducted a drug raid at a property in Vailoa Palauli, Savai’i. The operation, carried out by officers from the Vaito’omuli Outpost, led to the arrest of a 34-year-old male suspect on the 9th of January, 2024.

During the raid, the police team seized an array of marijuana products from the suspect’s property. The confiscated items included fresh marijuana plants, containers filled with dried marijuana leaves, rolled marijuana cigarettes, and other forms of dried marijuana plants. This array of items indicates a significant involvement in the cultivation and preparation of marijuana.

The 34-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, has been arrested and is currently remanded in custody. He is scheduled to remain in custody until the 6th of February, 2024, when he will be mentioned in court concerning the charges laid against him. This period of remand indicates the seriousness of the charges and the ongoing investigation by the SPPCS.

In their statement, the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services took the opportunity to express their gratitude to the public for their continuous support and assistance in reporting criminal activities. The SPPCS emphasised the role of community cooperation in maintaining law and order and highlighted their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all Samoans.
