This cyclone is approaching Samoa, and it is expected to strengthen, posing a potential threat to the safety of residents in coastal areas.
Despite the warnings from the Meteorological Office, as well as the Ministry of Health, to ensure the well-being of the public and to take necessary precautions in preparation for the cyclone, some individuals are still ignoring these warnings and using makeshift pathways to cross swollen rivers.
Despite the efforts of the Meteorological Office, the Police Department, and the Ministry of Health to safeguard the well-being of the general public and issue cyclone alerts, there have been some instances of non-compliance.
In the latest weather report released this morning, it stated, “The storm is causing widespread flooding, road closures, and extensive damage to properties. Strong winds are expected at times.
“There is also a concern regarding the potential health impacts of the cyclone and the emergence of certain waterborne diseases in some low-lying areas of the country.” Emergency vehicles have also been deployed to provide assistance.
