Decrease in travelers to Samoa in January 2024

The number of arrivals to Samoa in January of this year has fallen to 20,619, according to the report from the statistical office. This reflects a 31.8% decrease in the number of overseas arrivals compared to the previous December, with a total of 30,224 inbound travelers to Samoa in the month of December of the previous year.

It was also recorded a decrease in revenue earned by the tourism and hospitality industry at the beginning of the year.

Despite this, there was an 18.5% increase in the number of people who visited Samoa in January 2024 compared to January 2023.

January remains the month with the highest number of arrivals, with the majority coming from Australia (51.1%), followed by America (21.6%), American Samoa (19.6%), and New Zealand (1%).

Of the 20,619 arrivals, 94.8% came by air, while 5.2% arrived by sea.
