Nikolao Nicholas Ipolito is looking forward to his first salary so that he can return the favour to his parents.

He is among the nursing students who graduated from the National University of Samoa last week and have already started their orientation year at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole (TTM) Hospital in Motootua; they will receive their first pay soon.

In an exclusive interview with Samoa Newshub, the 23-year-old said he cannot wait to give his first-ever salary to his parents.

Looking back to when I first started my educational life in preschool up to this day, my mom and dad have given all they had just to ensure I have a good education.

“They have been through so much just for me to get to where I am now, and I do not take it lightly. Now, it is my time to pay them back.”

Mr. Ipolito explained that there was a time in his life when he nearly neglected his studies due to peer pressure, but the love he has for the people who are praying for him is what pushed him to overcome the challenges he came across.

He went to Saint Joseph’s Primary School in his village of Leauvaa, later attended Saint Joseph’s College in Alafua, and then made his way to the National University of Samoa in 2020 for his Foundation Year, where he opted to take Nursing.

According to him, this is a milestone and a dream come true.

Nikolao acknowledged the support of his family, church, and friends who helped him achieve this step in life.

He is the son of Salā Nikolao Ipolito (father) and Punipuao Tiafau Salā (mother).
