Millions of people across Mexico, the United States, and Canada were treated to a breathtaking display of nature as they witnessed a total eclipse spanning from Mazatlán, Mexico, to Newfoundland, Canada. The celestial phenomenon captured the imaginations of people from all walks of life, drawing their eyes upward to the darkened sky.
Winston Peters, the deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand was one of many who witnessed the once in a lifetime event while in New York for meetings. Constable Philip Gavin from the Niagara Regional Police Services, talked about getting ready for the eclipse. He said they expected a lot of people to come to their area to see it. They thought maybe 30,000 to 40,000 people would come. They had some problems with clouds, but they were still excited.
The Niagara area had to get ready for lots of visitors, so they made a special plan. Gavin said everyone, including visitors and the people who help in emergencies, would be looking up at the sky when it happened.
He said, “I think everyone is going to try and take some moments around the peak time to take it all in.”
People all over, in parks, on rooftops, and in small towns, were in darkness to watch the eclipse.
