A teenager is in trouble with the law for supposedly stabbing a bishop at a church in Sydney. The attack happened during a sermon at Christ the Good Shepherd Church. The boy is accused of doing this as an act of terrorism.
The police, along with other agencies, questioned the teenager in the hospital and charged him with a serious crime related to terrorism. He could be put in jail for life if found guilty.
The boy didn’t get bail and will have a court hearing while still in the hospital. A special team, including police and intelligence officers, is handling the case.
After the stabbing, there was a big fight involving many people near the church. Some of them weren’t even from the church. They hurt police officers and damaged their cars. The police want help from the public to find those responsible for the violence.
One person, Dani Mansour, got caught and charged with being part of the riot. He admitted his mistake but was angry at the police. He posted videos of himself damaging police cars on Instagram. He’ll appear in court soon.
The bishop, despite being hurt, forgave the person who attacked him and asked everyone to stay calm and follow the law.
Government leaders met with religious leaders to promote peace and unity in the community. They want everyone to work together and avoid violence.
