For the second consecutive year, the MNRE Waste Management & Pollution Control Division has chosen SKYEYE VEHICLE TRACKING to support the management and monitoring of Samoa’s waste disposal throughout Upolu and Savaii. This initiative is a continuation of the “Keep Samoa Clean” project, which began with donor funding from JICA.

“Skyeye acknowledges ACEO Fuimaono Katenia Rasch for the vote of confidence in our tracking services,” says Unasa Nomeneta Saili, CTO for Skyeye.

The Rubbish collection monitoring system was established as a part of the Samoan activities within the MNRE & JICA project, “Japanese Technical Cooperation Project for Promotion of Regional Initiative on Solid Waste Management in Pacific Island Countries Phase II (J-PRISM II).” This occasion also celebrates the successful transition of the project from a collaboration with a development partner to being fully managed by a government ministry. Congratulations to the CEO of MNRE, afioga Lesaisalanoa Frances Reupena, and her management team.

The contract renewal was signed at the SKYEYE PACIFIC Headquarters in Lotopa on Thursday, 11th April 2024. Senior officials from the MNRE Waste Management Division led by Toleafoa Fa’atamali’iamio Meredith were in attendance, while Skyeye CTO Unasa Nome Saili signed on behalf of SKYEYE PACIFIC. The eight service providers or contractors who will be handling waste collection across Upolu and Savaii were also present. SKYEYE congratulates Jaffa’s Sanitary Service, Apia Lua Ltd, Bluebird Construction, Jedstar Ltd, LA Painters, Pacific Recycle Ltd, Road Runners, and Tamalemau Ltd. on their successful bids to provide services to Samoa. The gathering also provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing issues and to continue dialogue on contributions towards keeping Samoa beautiful. Skyeye Sales Manager Pauli Fetu Leapai-Saili and senior technician Leauanae Tavita Mailei, who are the focal points of contact for MNRE and the service providers, addressed the issues raised.

The use of the SKYEYE Vehicle Tracking system has enabled MNRE to efficiently manage, monitor, and evaluate the performance of the service providers. Those contracted have also found the Skyeye Vehicle Tracking system invaluable in ensuring prompt waste collection along designated routes nationwide. Moreover, the Skyeye inbuilt addressing system “ALA” has improved zone servicing accuracy, enhanced service delivery, saved time, and reduced costs. An appreciated difference introduced by Skyeye Vehicle Tracking is the ability to promptly address grievances, thereby building greater trust and rapport with stakeholders. Skyeye welcomes and values the feedback from our stakeholders in both the government and private sectors as we work together to KEEP SAMOA CLEAN.
