The two women at the helm of the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) and the Samoa Family Health Association (SFHA) have signed a Collaboration Agreement to co-partner in implementing the Nofotane Samoa Social Enterprise (NSSE) Project over the next three years. This project, funded by the European Union, aims to empower nofotane women survivors of violence.
The NSSE Project seeks to transition the Nofotane Program into a social enterprise by 2027, providing employment, education, and empowerment opportunities to nofotane women, including those with disabilities. The SFHA, as the leading sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) service provider in Samoa, is a crucial partner in achieving the project’s objectives, particularly concerning the health and wellbeing of women.
Lealaiauloto Liai Siitia, Executive Director of SFHA, expressed gratitude for the collaboration: “Thank you, SVSG President Siliniu, for the opportunity to collaborate with the SFHA in this exciting project. We are stronger together.”
Under this collaboration, SFHA will conduct workshops on sexual reproductive health and ongoing family planning awareness. The NSSE Project will refer nofotane women to SFHA’s services, and vice versa, ensuring comprehensive support.
SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang shared the importance of health and wellbeing: “For the nofotane women to achieve their dreams, they need to be healthy, happy, and safe. The health and wellbeing component of the NSSE Project, implemented by SFHA, is pivotal in ensuring that the nofotane women are not only economically and socially empowered but also healthy, happy, and safe.”
