At around 3 p.m. this afternoon, the sirens of emergency vehicles from the Fire and Emergency Services Authority were heard in Apia.
Samoa Newshub contacted Commissioner Tanuvasa Petone Mauga of the Authority.
It was confirmed that one person was rushed to Motootua hospital for treatment, while at the same time, efforts were made by the staff to clear the road that had been blocked by two severely damaged vehicles involved in a collision.
Tanuvasa stated that investigations into this incident are ongoing, as the priority is the life of the affected person rather than the cause, with a more definitive answer expected soon.
The Commissioner strongly advised the public to drive cautiously, pointing out the importance of life over concern for property.
The accident occurred in front of the Methodist Church in Matafele.
