At Avele College’s opening ceremony to commence its 100-year celebration this evening, Samoa Newshub caught up with Julia Wallwork, who explained that the event means the world to her. Despite her excitement about this milestone, Mrs. Wallwork’s emotions changed completely when asked about her husband, the late Seiuli Paul Wallwork’s contribution to the school.
“You know what, I am sitting here, enjoying every part of the ceremony, but my heart cries when I think about my husband,” she said. “He would always talk about this college’s 100-year anniversary. He had been looking forward to seeing the people he worked with at this school, on this day. This school is dear to him as well as the students.”
“Nevertheless, he’s not here anymore, and it hurts me,” she continued. Despite this, Mrs. Wallwork said she will continue to support Avele in every way, on behalf of her husband.
“Serving Avele brings joy to my heart, as if Seiuli were still alive. I am happy to be part of his ‘aiga’ (Avele family).”
Seiuli Paul Wallwork is known for his service as a former teacher and principal of Avele College in past years. The ceremony began with a moment of silence to honor those who have passed away but played vital roles in the development of this particular college.
