It’s a dream come true for 23-year-old Iosefa Wendt as he finally joins Samoa’s police force after today’s graduation.
In an interview with Samoa Newshub, he clarified that this profession was his choice.
“Growing up, my father was my role model, and I always dreamed of continuing the good works he started. One of those works is serving the nation with humility during his time as a policeman.
“It inspired and pushed me to take up the Samoa Police Basic Recruit Course, which was completed in seventeen weeks. Now, I have accomplished my goal, and I am sure my father is proud of me.”
His father, Max Wendt, along with his late grandfather Max Ationo Wendt (his father’s father), spent most of their lives ensuring public safety by enforcing the law and ensuring it was obeyed.
Mr. Wendt is among the 41 new officers sworn in last month, marking the culmination of 17 weeks of rigorous training and dedication, celebrated with a graduation ceremony.
The young achiever is from the villages of Vaisala, Savaii, Vaiala, and Safa’ato’a. He is the son of Max and Silomiga and has five siblings.
According to him,
“I am aware that my work should always be guided by the values of Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy. These principles are the cornerstone of effective and honorable police work.”
Iosefa is also a player for his village’s rugby club, the Blackie from Vaiala, and his achievement will surely inspire his team.
