Faleo’o, Samoa – Samoa – A newly built VIP Lounge at Faleolo International Airport officially opened on Friday, 27th September 2024. The facility, which cost $11.2 million tala, was funded by the Samoa Airports Authority and completed in August 2024 after starting construction in November 2023.
The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, including Acting Prime Minister, members of the Cabinet, and representatives from the diplomatic community.
“This lounge is not just about infrastructure; it reaffirms Samoa’s position as a key player in Pacific aviation,” said Hon. Olo Fiti Afoa Vaai, Minister of Works, Transport, and Infrastructure, during his keynote address. The lounge can accommodate up to 300 visitors, a considerable increase from the previous lounge’s capacity of 50.
The project was constructed by Zheng Construction Company, with SUCON Consultancy Ltd responsible for overseeing its design and progress. According to Minister Vaai, the lounge will improve connectivity and help boost tourism in Samoa.
“Our focus remains on improving connectivity and fostering tourism,” he said, adding that the space will serve as a venue for important discussions and partnerships.
The Samoa Airports Authority was praised for leading the project, and Minister Vaai acknowledged the government’s support and the community’s involvement in making the new lounge a reality.
