Today, SVSG (Samoa Victim Support Group) community representatives gathered to look back on the past year and plan for the upcoming year. This meeting was a great opportunity to recognise progress, celebrate successes, and set new goals.
The representatives reviewed the work they did last year, talked about the challenges they faced, and appreciated everyone’s efforts that helped the community grow and improve.
The SVSG community network, made up of village representatives, plays a crucial role in connecting with local communities. They help spread SVSG’s messages through awareness campaigns and outreach programs. These representatives are vital in SVSG’s mission to reduce violence in communities. They also assist with training and volunteer work alongside SVSG staff.
During the meeting, key points for 2024 were discussed, such as reviewing successful projects like the opening of the SVSG Queen Camilla Pre-School of Hope. They also talked about the need to update the list of representatives, as some could no longer continue due to age and health issues.
The group acknowledged the hard work of the representatives in projects like the Nofotane project, community activities, and youth welfare. They emphasized the importance of these reps in reporting incidents of violence and abuse through the SVSG Free Helpline.
Looking ahead to 2025, the representatives were informed about SVSG’s 20th-anniversary celebration and their important role in it.
SVSG President Siliniu Lina Chang thanked the community reps for their dedication and reminded them how crucial it is for everyone in the community to feel heard, valued, and motivated to contribute to the work ahead.
