The government has confirmed the latest funding disbursement under the $1 million project, with three districts already receiving $700,000 each. The project aims to support various community initiatives, including education, health, infrastructure, and agriculture.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the third phase of funding will be released in two tranches—70% initially, with the remaining 30% to follow. Previous disbursements were made in three tranches, but this approach has been adjusted to accelerate the process.
The funds are allocated across several areas: school upgrades, health programs, farming and fisheries support, cultural initiatives, sports development, and climate awareness workshops. Infrastructure improvements, including road upgrades, are also part of the project.
The Ministry stated that further disbursements will be made once audit reports from district councils are received. The government also confirmed that $5 million was released last week as part of broader funding efforts, covering both the second and third phases of the project.
The initiative is intended to support local communities in managing and implementing development programs with a focus on sustainability and economic growth.
