Taupaolo Mose, the faletua of Vailele Seventh Day Adventist Church (S.D.A), has made her church family proud after graduating with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from the National University of Samoa (N.U.S) last week. She was also named the top of her class.

Her church congregation shared the news on their official Facebook page, describing her as “a beacon of hope and inspiration,” and commending her for her perseverance and passion for education.

In an interview with Samoa Newshub, Mrs. Mose said her journey had not been easy.

“There were times when I shed tears as I tried my best, working on my major assignments,” she said. “I once heard a voice at the back of my head tempting me to give up. Nevertheless, my husband, Pastor Mose, and my children—Glory, Congresstitus Hurrell, and Manua Mose Hurrell—were supportive of my journey. Cheering for me made me want to keep running to finish my race.”

She said she never felt too old to learn and encouraged others not to let age hold them back.

“There’s no age limit in education. Don’t be shy to sit in a classroom if you’re in your 30s, 40s, or older. Life is a learning experience, and when you harvest the fruits of your work, it feels rewarding.”

Taupaolo credited the grace of God for helping her through what she described as a tough but fulfilling journey.

She also expressed her gratitude to her church family at Vailele for their ongoing support, her siblings, fellow faletuas, tutors and lecturers at N.U.S, and the Ministry of Education and Culture for the sponsorship that made her studies possible.

Mrs. Mose said she hopes her achievement inspires other women to pursue their dreams and seek out educational opportunities, and she also hopes her children will follow the same path.

When asked for a Bible verse that gives her strength, she quoted:

“Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
