UNESCO’s Apia Office is calling on the public to support a book drive ahead of World Book Day 2025, with all donations going to children and youth at the Campus of Hope under the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG).

World Book Day is celebrated globally on 23 April each year. This year, UNESCO is using the occasion to encourage reading while supporting the Campus of Hope to establish a library in the near future.

Book donations can be dropped off until 22 April 2025 at the UNESCO Regional Office for the Pacific States, located on the 3rd floor of the John Williams Building, Beach Road.

UNESCO is asking for books in good condition, in either English or Samoan, and says children’s books are especially welcome.

The Campus of Hope serves as a sanctuary for young survivors of violence and abuse, offering a safe environment for healing and rebuilding.
