Her Excellency Ms Jana Tyrer presented her Letters of Credence to the Head of State of Samoa, Afioga Tuimaleali’ifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II, at an official ceremony held this morning at the Head of State’s residence in Vailele.
Ambassador Tyrer is accredited as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Samoa, with residence in Canberra, Australia.
Samoa and the Czech Republic established diplomatic relations on 12 December 1995. Since then, both countries have maintained cooperation through the United Nations and other multilateral platforms, with shared priorities in peace and security, sovereignty, human rights, and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Ambassador Tyrer reaffirmed Czechia’s commitment to these shared goals and expressed interest in furthering bilateral cooperation with Samoa.
The Head of State welcomed Ambassador Tyrer and acknowledged the growing partnership between the two countries. He also expressed appreciation for Czechia’s engagement in regional and multilateral efforts, especially through the European Union.
Ambassador Tyrer holds a Master’s degree in English and German Philology from Palacký University in Olomouc, and has studied in Switzerland. She joined the Czech diplomatic service in 2001 and has served in various roles in Europe and within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is currently Junior Deputy Minister and Director General for European Affairs. She speaks six languages, including Czech, English, German, Russian, French, and Spanish.
