A delegation from Slovakia, Italy, Vanuatu and Fiji has visited the National University of Samoa to deepen collaboration on the European Union-funded AGRI-TOUR project. The visit marks a key step in linking Pacific universities with their European partners to build stronger connections between agriculture and tourism across the region.
The AGRI-TOUR project focuses on applying Green Deal principles in Pacific higher education institutions. It brings together NUS with universities and organisations from Slovakia, Italy, Fiji and Vanuatu to develop new research, strengthen academic networks and create opportunities for students.
Vice Chancellor Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa and the NUS management team met with the delegation to review project progress and explore future initiatives. Professor Tuifuisa’a said the project supports NUS’s broader goal of building meaningful community and stakeholder partnerships.

The three-year project, coordinated by NUS’s Faculty of Science with the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, is due to conclude in 2027. Its work includes joint research, new online learning opportunities, closer cooperation between university international offices, and pathways for student internships.
Through this collaboration, NUS is strengthening its role in regional development and contributing to Samoa and the Pacific through practical, research-based initiatives.
