Samoa has received 15 home biogas systems donated by the Government of Israel, with the equipment officially handed over through the National Emergency Operations Centre at Tuanaimato.
Samoa Observer reported that the donation was made in the same week Israel’s Ambassador to Samoa, H.E. Alon Roth-Snir, met with Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Ale Vena Ale, and formally presented his credentials to the Head of State at Vailele.

At the credentials ceremony, the Head of State thanked Israel for its long-standing support in areas including health, agriculture, food security, and renewable energy, and noted Samoa’s plan to open a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem later in 2026.
In the MNRE press release issued for the handover, Minister Ale Vena Ale said, “Our continued reliance on imported fossil fuels places significant pressure on both our economy and our environment.” The release said the biogas systems are intended to support Samoa’s renewable energy transition by turning household organic waste into cooking gas and improving waste management outcomes.

The MNRE release also described the technology as practical at household level, stating,
“By converting organic waste into clean, renewable gas, these systems improve waste management and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”
It said the donation aligns with national climate and energy goals, including Samoa’s renewable energy targets and wider climate resilience work.
