Samoa’s Prime Ministerial delegation has departed for Tokelau to attend celebrations marking 100 years of commitment and partnership between Tokelau and New Zealand.
The delegation left Samoa aboard the Nafanua patrol boat and is travelling to Nukunonu, where the centenary celebrations will be held from 11 to 14 July 2026.
The visit represents Samoa’s participation in the historic occasion commemorating a century of Tokelau’s constitutional relationship and partnership with New Zealand.

Police officers from the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services are accompanying the delegation to provide security and support the safe arrival of the Prime Minister and other government officials attending the event.
The visit will also allow Samoan police officers to reconnect with their counterparts in Tokelau. Tokelauan personnel have previously travelled to Samoa to participate in police recruitment and training programmes.
The centenary celebrations are expected to bring together government representatives, community leaders and officials to recognise Tokelau’s history, development and continuing relationship with New Zealand.
