The National University of Samoa (NUS) has launched a special issue of The Journal of Samoan Studies, Volume 15, No. 1, focused on Samoan labour mobility.
Titled “Labour Mobility in Samoa: Past and Present,” this is the first volume for 2025 and offers an in-depth study on the impacts of labour mobility in Samoa.
The special issue features 13 peer-reviewed articles from scholars including Kalissa Alexeyeff (University of Melbourne), Penelope Schoeffel (National University of Samoa), Meleiseā Malama Meleiseā (National University of Samoa), Brian T. Alofaituli (National University of Samoa), Stewart Firth (Australian National University), Aumua Ming Leung Wai, Cluny and La’avasa Macpherson, Ellen Meleiseā, Masami Tsujita (National University of Samoa), and Michael Yemoh (National University of Samoa).
The issue is available online at www.journalofsamoanstudies.ws, with a limited print run through the NUS Research Museum and CSS.
Associate Professor Kalissa Alexeyeff, co-editor and author, described the collection as a detailed study of labour mobility’s effects on Samoa’s economy and communities. JSS Chief Editor Dionne Fonoti acknowledged the contributions of the scholars and the academic excellence represented in the publication.
